In 2017 the “Comunità Montana dei Castelli Romani e Prenestini” will select six young archaeologists to work with the Spanish School of History and Archaeology in Rome on the XX archaeological season in Tuscolo.
The scholarships, in honor of the Spanish archaeologist Xavier Dupré, are available for university students or newly graduated students under 28 years of age, priority will be given to the residents of the territories of the “Comunità Montana”.
The chosen applicants will work on the archaeological excavation for three weeks, from the 24th of April to the 12th of May with Spanish researchers and during the last week will partake in the study of the materials found during the excavation.
This new archaeological season will investigate the plateau area in front of the forum where there has been a discovered middle age church built on an imposing public Roman building, which will be the object of new analysis to understand its entire planimetry and its function.
The area of the “Rocca” will be investigated on the subject of the urbanistic distribution of the middle age district and the precise structure of the Domus, which was excavated in 2015.
Scholarship holders will also partake in the “Scavi aperti” day on the 6th of May 2017, when the excavations will be presented to the public by the means of guided visits.
